Knight of Aurora-Athena

(Masonic Degree - "Knight of Aurora")

"Aurora, goddess of dawn, is the Roman name for the Greek dawn goddess, Eos. ... She is shown flying before the chariot of the sun, sometimes carrying a torch and flowers. Aurora is comparable to the Greek Athene...".

The Greeks identified her with the Egyptian sky goddess Neith. The grey-eyed Greek virgin goddess of war, wisdom, and handicrafts, and patroness of Athens... The Parthenon was her temple. The owl is her bird. ... It is said that she remained a virgin... Athena is comparable to the goddess of dawn, Eos, and the Roman Aurora. ..." "[Archetypes] easily catch hold of you and you are possessed as if they were lions or bears, say – primitive forces which are quite definitely stronger than you. all cases identification with the unconscious ...brings a weakening of consciousness, and herein lies the danger. You do not 'make' an identification, you do not 'identify yourself,' but you experience your identity with the archetype in an unconscious way and so are possessed by it. Insanity is possession by an unconscious content that, as such, is not assimilated to consciousness, nor can it be assimilated since the very existence of such conditions is denied." ~ Carl Jung (qtd. in

Phanes, Zeus, Dionysus, and Pan

"In the Orphic theogony (which differs substantially from the more well-known cosmogony of Homer and Hesiod), Dionysus appears successively in three forms: Phanês-Dionysus, the bisexual god of Light, burst from the silver egg of the cosmos (the so-called Orphic Egg is sometimes depicted as an egg girt with a serpent) at the beginning of time. ... Zeus [swallowed] ... Phanes ... assimilating his power. Zeus then took the form of a serpent and begot the second Dionysus, Dionysus-Zagreus, the Horned Child, upon his daughter Persephonê. ... Athena, goddess of Wisdom, had witnessed the murder of Dionysus-Zagreus and had even managed to save his heart from the rage of the Titans. She brought it, still beating, to her father Zeus. Zeus consumed the heart, as he had previously consumed the Serpent-entwined Egg of Light of his great-grandfather Phanês. He then came to Semelê...and begot upon her the third Dionysus, known as Dionysus-Lyseus or Bakkhos [Bacchus], or simply as Dionysus. [Another version of the legend has Athena preserving the heart of Zagreus within a small figure she fashioned from the gypsum of the Titans, into which she breathed life.] ... Having been born twice, once as Zagreus and once as Lyseus, Dionysus is known as Dithyrambos, the 'twice-born.'"

"PHANES was the Protogenos (primeval god) of procreation in the Orphic cosmogony. He was the primal generator of life, the driving force behind reproduction in the early cosmos. Phanes was hatched from the world egg (the primordial mixture of elements) when it was split into its constituent parts by the ancient gods Khronos (Time) and Ananke (Inevitability). ... Phanes was portrayed as a beautiful golden-winged hermaphroditic deity wrapped in a serpent's coils. The poets describe him as an incorporeal being invisible even through the eyes of the gods. His name means "bring to light" or "make appear" from the Greek verbs phanaô and phainô. ... Khronos (Time) generated an egg...The egg; the dyad of the two natures inside it (male and female)... and thirdly an incorporeal god with golden wings on his shoulders, bulls’ heads growing upon his flanks, and on his head a monstrous serpent, presenting the appearance of all kinds of animal forms ... Protogonos (First-Born) [Phanes], ... Zeus the order of all and of the whole world, wherefore he is also called Pan (All)."

"Should the media not use James Holmes' name? ... Names have always been the subject of magical thinking -- the ancient Romans buried lead tablets invoking the names of spirits, gods or the dead in order to curse their enemies, just as one example -- so maybe it shouldn't be too surprising that many people think uttering the name "James Holmes," like an unguarded mention of the name "Voldemort" in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, will cause bad things to happen.",0,7705725.story Via

The Tragi-Comedy (Thalia-Melpomene) of the Puppet Master's Jester

James Holmes' various expressions struck me as reminiscent of the so-called Tragedy-Comedy Theater Masks. The relevant Muses are, I believe, Thalia and Melpomene. The images seem to be channeling the Puppet Master character "Jester."

Programming code "in Flash"

("In a time exposure with a telephoto lens, you can see that Polaris (bright dot) is not quite at the north celestial pole, but still close enough barely notice the difference. Photo: Bob King" Source:

"[John Jacobson, now a PhD candidate at UC San Diego in philosophy and cognitive sciences] said he set Holmes to work writing computer code for an experiment Jacobson had done involving a game of rock-paper-scissors, in which the computer always beats the human, no matter who goes first.

"The experiment was in Flash, which Jacobson said is best encoded using what’s called object-oriented programming. Holmes insisted on using what's known as procedural programming, much more time consuming and complicated, Jacobson said."

"Source Code" (Movie):

"Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes with a jolt to find himself on a commuter train heading into Chicago. Although the other passengers all seem to know him, he has absolutely no idea where—or even who—he is. The last thing Colter remembers is flying a helicopter mission in Iraq, but here he is in someone else’s life going through someone else’s morning commute. Before he can do anything an express train zooms by on the opposite track and a bomb explodes, seemingly killing Colter and all the other passengers.

"Colter comes to in an isolation chamber, strapped to a seat, and wearing his military flight suit. He still has no idea what’s happening, except that he’s being spoken to by mission controller Carol Goodwin (Vera Farmiga), who calmly recites a series of memory questions to which Colter is shocked to realize he knows the answers. He learns he’s part of an operation called 'Beleaguered Castle,' but before he can progress any further, Goodwin starts up the machinery and suddenly…Colter is back on the train, at exactly the same time he first appeared there, once again speeding through Chicago with the same group of commuters. Colter figures he’s in some kind of simulation exercise, with his task being to find the bomber onboard the train before it goes off again."

"None of them can be saved. ... You cease to exist on the train. You cannot exist inside the source code beyond Fentress's eight minutes...Source Code is not time travel. Rather, source Code is time reassignment. It gives us access to a parallel reality." ~ Dr. Rutledge, Source Code

"Video emerged ... of Dark Knight killer James Holmes, showing the then-18-year-old as a seemingly happy and bright science student. During the summer of 2006, Holmes attended a science camp at Mirmar College in San Diego and the video shows him talking about his research on temporal illusions and the cross between fantasy and reality. ABC News aired the video, where Holmes is seen explaining his work: 'Over the course of the summer I've been working with a temporal illusion. It's an illusion that allows you to change the past.' Although that package turned out to be from someone else and harmless, a search of the Campus Services' mailroom turned up another package sent to the psychiatrist with Holmes' name in the return address, the source told"

Huh? What a lucky coincidence that the "authorities" had that false alarm! Or else they may never have turned up the real smoking gun package just loitering in the mail room.

A Fool's Journey

"the Joker as the perfect Fool"

"scene from Trinity #37 by Kurt Busiek and Fabian Nicieza; art by Scott McDaniel[:] D-level villains (and that’s being generous) Punch and Jewelee are used as the focus of Morgaine’s machine to find a new Fool for her villain’s Tarot. The machine identifies the Joker as the perfect Fool — which really isn’t a surprise — but unfortunately neither Punch nor Jewelee survive the process." (

"three-parts learned, one part crazy"

"The 'Great Fool' ... Reason is an impasse, reason is damnation; only madness, divine madness, offers an issue. ...three-parts learned, one part crazy... they are all mad, that is, inspired. ...the general solution is to represent the saviour as the fool. (Attempts to attain this condition appear in the Bible. Note the 'coat of many colours' of Joseph and of Jesus; it is the man in motley[note] who brings his people out of bondage.)
"[Note:] Call him 'Harlequin', and a Tetragrammaton evidently burlesquing the Sacred Family springs into sight: Pantaloon, the aged 'antique-antic'; Clown and Harlequin, two aspects of the Fool; and Columbine, the Virgin. But being burlesque, the tradition is confused and the deep meaning lost; just as the mediaeval Mystery-Play of Pontius and Judas became the farce, with opportunist topical variants, 'Punch and Judy'."

"In the British Isles, the Northern Lights were known as the "nimble men" or the "merry dancers," names belying the fact that auroras were seen as clans at war, and the red light as blood spilt in violent battle. ... Scandinavian popular belief linked the aurora to dead women, especially to dead virgins."
